For Colored Girls: Nubian Skin, Lingerie for Brown Girls

When I first saw the article in my FB feed, I automatically got excited, a lingerie line that is exclusively for women with light brown to deep/dark skin tones. Why? Because the nude-colored lingerie & hosiery that most of us see in Macy’s, Victoria’s Secret & Frederick’s do not apply to us golden brown divas.

Earlier this month, Nubian Skin launched its site and showcases “a different kind of nude” in four main tones including (from lightest to darkest) Cafe Au Lait, Caramel, Cinnamon, & Berry. But if you have any trouble figuring out which nude suits you best, just check out their foundation chart to help you match up. Personally, I think this is great and it’s a step in the right direction for us beautiful brown queens. Can’t wait to place my order.

What do you think ladies? Have you been waiting for something like this?

Fashion & Style: Tinka’s Top x Met Ball Gala 2014

As most of you know (or should know) last night was the fabulous of the most fabulous fashionable events, the Met Ball. Each year I marvel at how amazing the stars look and frown at who has clearly missed the mark, but I’m just going to focus on my personal faves, the people that hit it perfectly for me and tickled me pink in every way. This year’s theme was a complete 180 from last year’s Punk: Chaos to Couture theme, focusing on this year’s Met muse, Charles James.  The ladies and gents pulled took to the top designers to portray the night’s vibe, “White Tie and Decorations”. Here are a few of my favorite looks from the fashion-forward event including Beyoncé, Nicole Richie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Cara Delevingne, Adele Exarchopoulos & Jourdan Dunn.

Beyoncé Knowles in Givenchy, Adèle Exarchopoulos in Prada & Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney. I know Cara has had much better looks than this at previous Met Gala’s but there just something about her, so she gets a one-time-only pass this time.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Balmain, Jourdan Dunn in Topshop & Nicole Richie in Donna Karan Atelier.

In my opinion, these ladies look great and I can’t even begin to go on and on, each one bears a different kind of look but I love it. Out of these six, I’m really feeling Beyoncé, Nicole and Adèle in their looks, what can I say…I’m gay for Beyoncé.

Who are your top picks from the Met Gala? Who gave you fashion LIFE last night?
