20 Ways To Save Your Skin (In Your 20s)

1. Hands OFF. Stop picking, poking and prodding. Leave your skin in peace and avoid redness, scars and spreading bacteria altogether.

2. Drink up. Water is your best friend. Trust me, when you don’t drink enough water, your skin suffers. Don’t believe me? Just try it and you’ll hate yourself immediately. Caution: Avoid mirrors.

3.  Eat some fish. Salmon is a goodie, full of Omega-3 fatty acids, which make skin glow (in a sexy way, not a greasy way).

4. Change your washcloth. This is personal preference. I normally use my hands to cleanse my face. However, I’ve been using white warm cloths and I change my facial cloth between every night or 2nd night. Laundry? Yes. Worth it? Yes.

5. Keep those paws clean. If you must touch your face, then at least keep those hands clean. Soap and water never fails. If you take public transportation like us New York ladies, try stylish gloves to keep hands protected and clean.

6.  The cleaner, the better. When did you ever benefit from having a dirty face? Wash your face, girl. Every. Single. Night. Do not go to bed with that makeup on.

7. SPF 30 or higher. Need I say more?

8. Invest in a good eye cream. It’ll reduce how much under-eye concealer you need. Need a budget buy? I double duty and use Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser as my under the eye cream, works well and its inexpensive at 8 bucks for 9 ounces.

9. Be gentle. Don’t rub so hard or abuse your exfoliators, whether it be a Konjac sponge, washcloth, scrubs or even your hands. Be easy. if you have to rub so hard that you nearly rub skin raw, then you need a new strategy.

10. Get your beauty sleep. At least 7-8 hours. Anything less shows.

11. Wash your bedding. I think a lot of people overlook this part. You have to wash and alternate your bedding. Otherwise, you’re just collecting all types of grossness.

12. Take A Closer Look At Your Hair Products. I learned this recently, being a newbie natural. Some of the products women use in their hair can irritate the skin or clog the pores. This wreaks havoc on our faces. No bueno.

13. Exercise. You already know.

14. Stop Worrying. Just relax, stop frowning and stop stressing so much. Stress isn’t great for the skin, causing breakouts, irritation and flare-ups.

15. Toss Old Makeup. Makeup has a shelf-life, stop trying to hold on, let it go, buy another one. Google: Makeup shelf-life. Surprise yourself & gross yourself out all at the same time.

16. Easy on the alcohol, cigarettes…weed, too. I don’t need to elaborate on this. While these things may make us feel great in the meantime, they don’t produce the same results for our skin.

17. Try a hot cloth. Not scalding, but a comfortable warmth. After applying cleanser, remove your cleanser with the warm cloth and feel the difference in your skin. It’s delicious. After a week, I was hooked.

18. Go Natural. If you can, try skincare product lines that use less chemicals and opt for natural, soothing ingredients.

19. Seasonal skincare. I change my skincare routine with the seasons. Most of the time, you’ll realize that your skin has different needs from time to time.

20. Smile. A smile makes for a happier woman, with happier skin. A smile looks good on you, girl.

10 Signs You Have CBF: Chronic Bitch Face

1. You hear, “Smile, gorgeous!” at least 3 times a day.  But why do I have to smile?

2. People always assume you’re annoyed or pissed off. Nope, I’m good.

3. People tell you to “Calm down” before you even react to something. I didn’t even say anything yet, geez. I am calm.

4. You always get asked, “What’s wrong?” Why does something have to be wrong, can’t I just have a straight face.goodness.

5. When you do smile, people think you’re crazy. Every single time.

6. You automatically get mad when people say “don’t be mad”. I wasn’t mad but now I am.

7. Your boyfriend always asks you why you have an attitude. I never had one in the first place but keep pushing and I’ll give you more than attitude.

8. Creepy people tend to stay away from you. That’s always helpful,  especially in NYC. If you ride the 2,4, 5 or 6 trains, you know what I mean.

9. Everyone thinks you’re crazy. I’ll never tell.

10. You may find yourself apologizing and saying, “That’s just how my face is.” Sorry. Not sorry.

There’s nothing wrong with having Chronic Bitch Face, I’ve suffered from it since forever and you know what? Its MY face and I absolutely love this bitchy, fierce face.

It’s your Bitch Face, own it.

25 Things Every Woman Should Have By 25

Since my 24th birthday is right around the corner, I’ve been also thinking about my 25th birthday. That got me thinking about the things that women should know & have by at least the age of 25.

1.  An intermixable, stylish wardrobe. Building a wardrobe takes time, but by 25, a woman should at least have the basics such as leggings, black pumps, the classic LBD and of course jeans that make a girl’s buns look yummy.

2. A personal color palette. We all have that one color (or a few) that we just can’t pull off because it either washes us out or just does nothing for our skin tone. Choose a color palette that makes you shine, makeup included.

3. Bank Account. This is beyond important.

4. Exercise Regimen. Whatever your niche is-Jogging, Pilates or Yoga; just make sure its fun and interesting for YOU.

5. At least 3 easy-to-fix-but-still-impressive recipes. Boiling water does not count. Learn your way around the kitchen…for yourself.

6. Shapewear.  The Ultimate Secret Weapon.

7. A reading list. Just because you’ve been out of college for a few years doesn’t mean you shouldn’t read. Paper porn doesn’t count. Line up a few good books.

8. Common Sense. Start using that brain, those good looks won’t last forever.

9. Foodie Bucket List. Gather a list of restaurants you long to visit & some dishes you’ve been just bursting to try.

10. A regular bucket list. Hey, why not?

11. Passport. Even if you haven’t been anywhere yet, who says you’re not going anywhere in the future. Romantic weekend tryst in Rio? Passaporte!

12. A proper, grown-up email address. It’s time to ditch the DivaGrrl777. Keep it simple: Last Name, First Initial.

13. A skincare regimen. Every woman’s skin is different, find out what will keep your skin dewy & healthy. Remember the basics: Cleanser, Moisturizer & Sunscreen.

14. A basic tool kit & the ability to use it. There’s nothing like a woman who knows how to use a hammer. Sexy.

15. Financial & career goals. If you don’t have them already.

16. At least one best friend. We need at least one awesome friend to have great times with & get through the hard times with.

17. A good idea of how to be alone & how to enjoy alone time. Be a woman that enjoys her own company. If you don’t enjoy yourself, how can someone else?

18. One red lipstick that compliments your skin tone. Self-explanatory.

19. Peace with your parents. You don’t have to speak to them every day or be the best of friends, just have healthy relationships with them.

20.  Comfort in your sexuality. Learn what you like in bed, know who you are sexually and don’t be ashamed of it.

21. At least one go-to purse-in black, brown or grey. Or all three, that’s even better.

22. A 5-minute makeup routine. Why spend 45 minutes putting on your Kim K face every day? Every girl needs a quick and simple routine.

23. A credit card. Only in your name and not maxed out already. Spend responsibly, credit debt sucks.

24. A day planner. It’s just the responsible, grown-up thing to do. Plus, its much neater than those post-its all over your mirror.

25. Confidence. A confident woman is an unstoppable woman.

Note: Depending on a woman’s personal preferences, physical location & financial circumstances, she may or may not want a house or a vehicle. Every woman is different. In regards to a woman having a job, in order to have some of these things (bank account, clothing, makeup, spending money, etc.), of course she needs a job or at least a paid internship. That really doesn’t need to be put on this list. But if a 25-year old woman does not have a job but she has goals that she’s actually working towards, then that doesn’t make her any less fabulous, we don’t know her circumstances.

Good Luck Ladies!
